Meet Vale

My name is Vale, pronounced as Ale with a V, long A, and I'm a professionally trained bodyworker and massage therapist licensed in the state of California. I am trained in traditional Chinese medicine, Craniosacral Therapy and I hold a Reiki Master level. I have BA degree in Somatic Psychology, performance/movement and Visual Arts, and a minor in Art Therapy. Over decades I have studied my own body movements as a way to transform chronic pain, and somatic/emotional trauma.

When I established my work and my business back in 2003, I had a vision of helping clients, meeting them exactly where they were in their lives and in their somatic (body) experiences. My training in Craniosacral Therapy, Tui Na, and traditional massage techniques has provided me with an incredible opportunity to work in a variety of scenarios; medical settings, public and private events, out in nature, volunteer settings with diverse populations and with private clients. Over the course of 17 years, I have had the honor of working with aging and elderly populations, children and everyone in between. Working one on one with clients in their homes and in my office has been my greatest joy and has provided a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that I followed my calling all those years ago.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST): is a method of healing that connects with the inherent and ever-present wisdom already existing within the body. Through a gentle approach, client and practitioner will collaborate to restore the fluidity of the Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) through awareness. I have been trained in both the Upledger Method and Biodynamic method of CST. Over the years, these two techniques have merged to form a very open approach to connecting with the systems of the body; nervous system, CSF, the physical structure of the skeleton and the naturally forming horizons in the body. Using the hands-on application of varied holding positions, these points of attention begin to unwind themselves through awareness and breath, re-establishing pathways of nourishment and improved function. A session is typically 90 minutes (unless for an infant or child) and clients remain fully clothed - comfortable clothing is always recommended.

Tui Na: is a practice based in the Asian Healing Arts and uses the same points, meridians and channels as acupuncture to clear both energetic and physical obstructions, but without the use of needles. With the application of a variety of hand techniques, I am able to tonify and strengthen or sedate and settle a client’s overall energetic system of function, according to your health intake. I have used these techniques to assist clients who are seeking better over-all health, who are recovering/rehabilitating from acute injuries and surgical procedures and who are seeking to reduce chronic pain. Clients can remain fully clothed - comfortable clothing is always recommended. Sessions can run 60 minutes for a full session or can be an add on to an existing session for 30 minutes - depending on client goals and treatment plan.
